Intrauterine Insemination

In this, concentrated or washed sperms are directly placed in the uterus so that they can reach the egg which has been released by the ovary in the fallopian tube, so that it can be fertilized.

Usually done where multiple natural attempts have failed, unexplained infertility, minimal-mild endometriosis, in couple where sperm motility is low, or a couple is unable to have intercourse naturally. 

The procedure can be done only when in the female either both tubes are open or at least one is. Not more than 3-4 cycles of IUI is suggested to a couple, after which IVF should be advised.
