There may be multiple indications for FET.
-Large number of embryos are formed by the couple, then 1 or 2 embryos are transferred and rest are cryopreserved (frozen) for future use.
– if there is risk of OHSS in the current cycle then all embryos are frozen and a FET is done later
-if couple is having any genetic disease and chances of inheritance is there by the offspring, then embryo biopsy may be needed. Following testing healthy embryos are then transferred in FET.
-in case the couple does not want a pregnancy at present and wants to undergo a transfer later on
-in case the male or female partner is currently under some sort of medical treatment for cancer. The embryos then can be transferred later after cancer treatment is over.
