A very simple and basic procedure. Usually done for females with prolonged or irregular menstrual cycles, PCOS, thyroid disorders, unexplained infertility.
Done after multiple IUI failures, or directly if female has blocked tubes, moderate-severe endometriosis, ovulation disorders, ovarian failure, severe male factor.
ICSI is a procedure where with the help of an instrument called micromanipulator, a single sperm is injected into a single egg for fertilization to take place.
In this, concentrated or washed sperms are directly placed in the uterus so that they can reach the egg which has been released by the ovary in the fallopian tube, so that it can be fertilized.
This is done for a couple where due to work either the male is staying away from the wife, or prior to cancer therapy (chemotherapy/ radiotherapy, as these treatments are toxic for sperms and decrease their quality and quantity).
There may be multiple indications for FET. Large number of embryos are formed by the couple, then 1 or 2 embryos are transferred and rest are cryopreserved (frozen) for future use.
